JBC presentation to North South Ministerial Council on all-island strategy for freight, ports and shipping
In a presentation to the North South Ministerial Council (NSMC) Transport Committee in May 2008, JBC called for an integrated all-island approach to research, policy development and planning which would benefit a wide spectrum of freight and shipping stakeholders in both jurisdictions.
In its presentation JBC called for:
- Forecasting and modelling of freight flows;
- Research on new/enhanced shipping corridors;
- Greater participation in EU funded programmes such as Marco Polo, Interreg, TENS;
- Driver Training to Professional Standards.
