JBC Enterprise and Energy Summit 22 Oct 2009 Edinburgh

The IBEC-CBI Joint Business Council Autumn 2009 Plenary meeting took place on Thursday, 22 October 2009 in Edinburgh and on this occasion was structured around a tripartite Enterprise and Energy Summit for business and political leaders.

The event brought together, for the first time, business and political representatives from the three regions of Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland to address economic challenges and opportunities for energy cooperation for regions which face similar investment, economic and employment challenges.

Recognising the importance of the summit, the respective Ministers for Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland - Eamon Ryan TD, Arlene Foster MLA and Jim Mather MSP addressed the summit and actively participated in proceedings.

The forum provided an unprecedented opportunity for real engagement between business and political leaders on the real challenge confronting today's generation, which is around competitive supply of energy and electricity in an advanced, low carbon, small regional economy.
